CPE Session #1: Financial Reporting at an Inflection Point: What the SEC Is Watching

At a time of rapid change, financial reporting teams are navigating increasing complexity, often before clear guidance is fully established.

Join the SEC Professionals Group for an exclusive fireside chat with Kurt Hohl, Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, who will share his perspective on the forces shaping financial reporting and disclosure today.

The discussion will explore key areas influencing the profession, including the growing role of AI in reporting processes, the need for more responsive standard-setting, the challenges of operating in a global, multi-framework environment, and the paramount importance of materiality. The conversation will also highlight how expectations are evolving in practice – where judgment is required, where scrutiny may increase, and how teams can navigate complex or emerging issues with greater confidence.

After attending this session, you will be able to:
● Understand the SEC’s current priorities and areas of focus impacting financial reporting and disclosure
● Evaluate how emerging technologies, including AI, are influencing reporting practices and audit expectations
● Identify practical considerations for navigating complex or unclear accounting and disclosure scenarios
● Recognize key trends and developments that may affect financial reporting teams in the near term

CPE Session #2: Staying Ahead in SEC Reporting: Priorities, Disclosure Trends, and What Comes Next

What should reporting teams be watching as SEC priorities, disclosure expectations, and market risks continue to evolve? From evolving regulatory priorities to disclosure risks around emerging topics, today’s environment calls for agility, judgment, and clear communication across teams.

In this timely, high-impact session hosted by the SEC Professionals Group, panelists from KPMG, Deloitte, and PwC will share perspectives on the current SEC reporting environment and what companies should be watching in the months ahead. The discussion will explore emerging disclosure challenges, practical considerations for engaging with the SEC, and how companies are approaching key areas of change as the Commission considers potential updates to reporting frequency, Reg S-K disclosures, company filer status, and other important issues.

After attending this session, you will be able to:
● Identify disclosure topics that may warrant enhanced care or attention in today’s risk climate.
● Analyze how companies are approaching challenging disclosure decisions in sensitive or evolving areas.
● Apply practical strategies to strengthen internal alignment and decision-making around complex reporting topics.
● Enhance collaboration between reporting, legal, risk, and governance teams to support transparent and resilient disclosure practices.
