Good day,
I'm reaching out to my fellow professionals with a question I'm being challenged with and need to confirm whether the guidance I'm providing to the relevant management teams are correct.
When performing User Acceptance Testing for new system implementations, to what level of evidencing testing do you go? We seem to have a group that believe you only need to maintain a list of tests performed with an indication whether the test passed or not, and if not, how the system was corrected to get the test to pass. They are of the view that no additional evidence or documentation need to be provided.
Then we have the group that are of the opinion that we need more, we need actual evidence of testing, i.e., screen-print to evidence the test steps performed or a recording of performing the specific test with the outcome and how any errors identified were resolved and retested. This is where I am.
How do you approach this in your organizations?
Regards,
Heine
I agree with the second position, that the actual test support, screen shots, etc. are required evidence. A sign-off alone indicates the test was performed, but the underlying support may need to be tested to ensure the test was done correctly.
2nd approach is the right answer. 1st approach is a summary of what you did for UAT.
