    Hi Members!

I hope you are like us and anxiously counting the days down for SOX Summit and Workiva's Amplify Conference! I can't believe it's been almost 3 years since we've had SOX Summit in-person!

I wanted to start a thread where we can share and connect. If you are attending in-person or virtually, what are you looking forward to? Who is attending the SOX Summit sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday?

The Pro Groups Team will be sponsoring a booth in the Amplify Expo Hall. If you are attending in-person, please come by and say hi to us! We have some cool swag to give out!

It's also not too late to register virtually to attend our first session, Hot Topics in Risk and Compliance. We also have ample seating for our in-person only Red Flag Mania session. Check out the course descriptions and learning objectives below:

Hot Topics in Risk and Compliance: Automation, ESG, and Talent

    Tuesday, September 13, 10:00–11:00 a.m. PT

    Watch in-person or virtually

    1 CPE credit in Auditing

During this KPMG led session, panelists will answer your questions on hot topics around risk and compliance. Hear practical and actionable advice from those in the thick of it.

    • Automation & Analytics: Panelists will share how to leverage technology to empower and support all three lines of defense.
    • ESG reporting: Panelists will apply lessons learned from 20 years of SOX to proactively tackle ESG reporting. Specifically, establishing governance and internal controls and outlining an audit strategy.
    • Retaining talent: Hear how managers can capitalize on technology to attract and retain talent in today's challenging job market.

During this session, you'll learn to:

    • Identify at least one area where automation could increase effectiveness and improve efficiency in your organization
    • Compare your organization's approach to ESG reporting with companies leveraging their learnings from SOX to build a solid foundation and jumpstart their ESG programs
    • Discover how implementing analytics and investing in technology can increase auditor engagement and satisfaction resulting in improvements in the hiring and retention of high-performing team members

    Red Flag Mania

    Wednesday, September 14, 9:30–11:30 a.m. PT

    In-person only

    2 CPE credits in Ethics

Gaining hands-on investigative experience can be difficult, and improving your professional skepticism abilities can be close to impossible. We read about these concepts and know that they are important, but how can we gain these skills? Here is your opportunity.

Welcome to Red Flag Mania, where the objective is to identify as many red flags as possible. In this interactive workshop, you will work in small investigative teams to solve a case using several forensic accounting techniques to determine the perpetrator. This segment will be facilitated by forensic accounting expert and award-winning documentary filmmaker, Dr. Kelly Richmond Pope, and experiential marketing expert Roni Jackson.

The story is real. The crime happened. You are the investigator.

During this session, you'll learn to:

    • Analyze the fraud triangle
    • Assess professional skepticism
    • Identify common judgement biases in decision-making
    • Interpret financial evidence
    • Compare and contrast deontological and telecological ethical frameworks

Hope to see you both in-person and virtually! Safe travels!
